MDP Associate Director - Onchocerciasis

As the Associate Director for Onchocerciasis with the Mectizan Donation Program, Dr. Kisito Ogoussan is primarily responsible for the onchocerciasis-related activities of the Mectizan Donation Program, including the ongoing development of the design, structure, and operations needed for mass treatment of onchocerciasis with Mectizan (ivermectin) in Africa and Latin American countries where the disease is endemic.

Kisito Ogoussan received his M.D. in 1996 from the School of Health Sciences/National University of Benin, Cotonou, and completed his Masters’ degree of Public Health from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC in 2004. He is fluent in both French and English.

Prior to joining the Mectizan Donation Program, Dr. Ogoussan worked as Research Associate at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics/University of South Carolina for three years. He also worked from 1997-2001 as Project Director for EAST, an InternationalNon-Governmental Organization working to improve hygiene, sanitation and environmental health of populations in rural and suburban areas in Benin and Togo through community empowerment, health education, and the building of adapted sanitation facilities.
