MITOSATH

Mission to Save the Helpless (MITOSATH) support for onchocerciasis control started in 1996 with about 22,000 treatments, which expanded over the years to about 936,000 treatments in 2005. In addition, MITOSATH also supports LF elimination; treatments for schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminthiasis, and trachoma; alleviation of micronutrient deficiency through vitamin A and iron-folate supplementation; nutrition education; and community-based rehabilitation.
